Client Testimonials...

V.W , IL

With the help of group therapy, I learned that I have a disease in which to arrest, I have to stay clean from drugs and alcohol. I prayed on a daily basis that I could gain some acceptance that a happy life does not consist of cheap pleasures and a quick fix. This new way of life was given to me as a second chance. I was previously in critical condition. I tried to take my own life as I couldn't take the pain of heroin withdrawals. I took a bottle of blood pressure medication hoping that it would do the job. I gave up on life and couldn’t find a reason to live anymore.  In fear that I would not die from overdose, I severed my left radial vein and right brachial artery. I suffered from brain injury due to lack of oxygen and lost 3/4 of total blood volume.  Flat lining twice and for a period fourteen minutes, my brain received no oxygen. There was little hope for a life without mechanical ventilation or a response to any stimuli.

Miraculously, I was weaned off of a ventilator and began to respond to commands such as "blink twice for 'yes’”, wiggle your toes", "Squeeze my hand". Shortly after, I was wheelchair bound working on speech and occupational therapy. A month later, I was walking with a cane for the assistance of my left side. Due to dysphasia, my speech was muffled and slow. I had swallow precautions due to the risk of choking on my own saliva my peripheral vision was poor and my depth perception was two dimensional. It was frustrating to get dressed every day. Writing was a challenge because I lost the dexterity in my fingers. A cognitive skills test showed a loss in my short term memory.  The chance to regain it was slim. My I.Q remained above normal but I couldn’t bear the fact that I looked and talked like a handicapped person. My dreams of becoming a nurse were crushed. I graduated from nursing school before this incident occurred, but I didn’t think it was a realistic goal to prepare for my state boards. It is, after all, a requirement to have good communication skills, excellent fine motor skills and good memory. Most importantly, I didn't think pursuing a career in taking care of patients was altruistic for someone with addictive tendencies, like me.

In addition to the physical and mental disabilities, I had emotional insecurities, as well. I suffered from untreated chronic depression for thirteen years. I would self medicate with any mind altering substances. My whole life consisted of periodic traumas. Both parents were abusive alcoholics and one of them died when I was nine-teen. Episodes included bankruptcy, death by suicide, violent street crimes and molestation by a family member. Co-dependant relationships and drug use was the way I knew how to cope with my past. Drug use was the only means of comfort I was familiar with, especially when experimenting with needle use. I've been told numerous times that, my life did resemble the Jerry Springer show, or a soap opera to be polite.

After I hit rock bottom with a near death experience, my brain was slowly healing. The damage to my hypothalamus started rewiring to other sections of my brain. I got discharged from the hospital with the impression that it takes two years for my brain to fully heal. I started going to support groups for my history of addiction problems and was taking Zoloft for my depression. I thought I was managing until I found myself relapsing continuously and visiting my therapist more frequently.  I was sleeping most of the day and eating to feel any sense of satisfaction. It became so excessive that it was a risk to my overall health. I didn’t want to replace one habit with another. I just wanted to feel right for a change. I knew there was something missing in my body. Vitamins and meditation were just not cutting it. I wanted a sense of control over the way to go about living a happy and healthy life.

It wasn't until recently; I took my psychologist's suggestion to give brain training a try. On 12-17-09 I was scheduled to see brainstate technology in the works. I wasn't going to participate unless I was guaranteed improvement in my motor skills and substance abuse problems, as those were the primary factors to my chronic depression. I was convinced to have this non-invasive procedure performed on me. My father decided to help me come up with the money in these desperate measures. .

After the treatment, the results were breath-taking.  The improvement in the occipital region of my brain meant my vision became more ensync. It was like comparing my old vision to a box T.V. and my new eye sight to a plasma screen.  I am walking with better gait and balance. I speak more clearly and with more intonation. This means I can swallow without putting myself at risk for choking. No longer dehydrated or struggling with low energy. My sleep has improved and my dreams are no longer pertaining to drug use, as they were before. My coordination allows me to run without tripping, play drums with a steady beat and cook without cutting myself, for a change. My dysphasia is gone, allowing me to make facial expressions and be a character again my memory has improved drastically. I used to forget the water running and the stove on all the time. Now I'm studying for my nursing boards and have confidence that I will pass this time around.

Overall, this procedure gave me results beyond my expectations. It helped me beat my physical and mental disability My brain tells my body what it needs. No longer do I let my actions condition my brain with the things I know I don't need. Does my body or my brain still crave stimulants? Honestly, I do think about it but I don't have a desire to act upon smoking, drinking, drugging or fighting with my disease of addiction. Simple sugars and salts, in excess do not agree with my body, in the same way that pessimism does. I just crave what my body needs; fruits vegetables protein, water fresh air and laughter.  It may sound too simple but it was the one thing I had lacking all this time; A partnership between my brain and my body, in complete serenity.

This experience took place in just six days. This is more improvement than I got in eight months of therapy (physical, occupational, speech and recreational combined). I am truly amazed at the potential my brain had in storage. It would have never been revealed without this radical procedure. As a candidate who underwent twelve sessions’ of brain training, I am confident that there is nothing more evolved than this holistic approach to recovery. I cannot explain the gratitude I have toward Lee Gerdes for such a phenomenal invention. Thanks to Neuro Fitness Center, Art and David Mcullar, for performing the sessions on me. Last but not least, my psychologist, Jeff Lucas, for recommending this to me. I wouldn’t have the trust in anyone but the person whom I confide in the most. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have any knowledge that brain training even existed. All of you proved to me that the sky is the limit and possibilities are endless.

Johnson A. Owner, Construction Company, suffered from a Stroke

Franklin, MI

I suffered a stroke in April 2007. I could not walk without assistance. I always leaned to the left, I could not maintain my balance. I had pressure behind my left eye socket and could barely see out of my left eye I had a great deal of trouble sleeping. I thought that the life that I had built for myself and my family was over. My business was suffering which caused me to become depressed. My friend Art, who would come and see me every other day in the hospital told me about this new technology that he was going to Scottsdale for training could possibly help me. He had asked the therapist while I was in rehab one day how long would it take someone to recover fully from a stroke like I had suffered. The therapist told him anywhere from 8 to 12 months minimum depending on the individual.

Art came back from Scottsdale training the first week in June. I was his first client on June 8, 2007 before he had opened up to the public. He would come and pick me up everyday and take me in for Brain State conditioning.

After my seventh session (4 days) I was able to stand up strait and walk unassisted in a walker and I started sleeping better. After my thirteenth session I was walking without a walker, I was using a cane. The pressure behind my left eye socket and the left side of my head had decreased greatly. I could see better out of my left eye than I could before I had the stroke. I felt much calmer. I didn't let things bother me anymore the way that I use to. After about two and a half weeks of BSC I was able to walk on my own without any assistance what so ever. I was so amazed and was such a believer in this technology. Today, after about 4 weeks of BSC, not the 8 to 12 months that the therapist said. I am happy to report that I am back driving and more importantly I played 18 holes of golf just 2 days ago. Shot a 94.

There are no words that can describe how I feel Right now. I told my friend Art that he saved my life! He told me that I saved my life by believing that I could get better by doing BSC. I now have my life back. Thank you Art for all that you have done for me and my family. Thank you for bringing this technology at a time when it was so desperately needed.

Linda P , Attorney , Suffered from Sleep deprivation and anxiety

Detroit MI

I came to Neuro Fitness Center with a short list of challenges that I deeply wanted to have addressed~ sleep deprivation and chronic anxiety. I can count on one hand the number of nights this year during which I
have slept without awakening. It is quite common for me to wake several times during the night and to stay awake for long periods of time. I have completed a 12 sessions with Neuro Fitness Center and I am
happy to say that my sleeping pattern has changed. My nights of sleep are far less broken~ I am only getting up once at night and thankfully I go back to sleep within minutes. My slumber is deeper and much more
restful. This is a very significant improvement for me as I have struggled with broken sleep and a lesser quality of sleep for over ten years. In addition to my being a natural worrier, my professional responsibilities as well as the personal challenges in my life cause me to be filled with anxiety and worry more often than I would like.

Before my sessions were complete, I saw a difference in the way in which I was handling both personal and professional aspects of my life. I reacted very calmly to a very serious recurring problem at work which
has typically caused my stomach to flutter. Instead of the anxiety that I previously experienced in just thinking about how I would handle it, I faced it head on. And, once it was addressed, I was done with it! No
second guessing my decision~ simply done! Likewise, I feel better about some of the relationships that are most important to me. I find myself being more honest about my feelings and putting myself first, without guilt! I attribute these significant changes to brain state conditioning and deeply appreciate the support that Neuro Fitness Center has provided.

Matt D.,  Retired Military Suffered from PTSD and substance abuse

Michigan

I am a sixty year old Vietnam veteran with PTSD. I suffer from depression, substance abuse, and extreme clusters headaches. I heard about RealTime Balancing from a good friend in Sedona Arizona who went through the program in an attempt to save a failing marriage. My friend stated that the program really helped the marriage and even eased his wife's chronic migraine headaches.

I had been asking the Veterans Administration for the last 2 to 3 years for other approaches to the PTSD than the regular " Talk Group Therapy" and countless psychotropic pharmaceuticals, some of which had left me impotent for over 3 years. Unfortunately, to no avail. I had even over the years tried private counseling, at great personal expense. It was essentially no different, basically the same approach-Freudian….My sleep patterns were about 12 hour per day, frequent nightmares, slovenly personal care and a lack of energy. No lust for life. And when my cluster headaches were in full swing my
attitude would dramatically deteriorate.

Taking my friend's advice I immediately contacted Mr. Art McCullar of Neuro Fitness Center and visited him at his office with my fiancé Cathy. We were impressed with the company video presentation and I immediately signed up for the next available sequence of sessions. After the third day of sessions I noticed a dramatic change in my sleep. I was only sleeping six to seven hours a night instead of twelve and as an added bonus I was waking up with an erection every morning. Before Brain State Conditioning I was lucky to get an erection on waking maybe once every 10 days!!!

My outlook on life has improved considerably. My energy level is Phenomenal and by the end of the third day I went home and told Cathy that she should take the RTBcourse too! She hesitated at first, saying it would ruin her summer. I said NO, it would improve her summer. Cathy was scheduled for back surgery last fall, she has spinal stenosis, but she avoided the surgery by regularly seeing a naturopath for massage therapy. So, I signed her up for sessions also and she is starting them today. I think RTB will help her pain.

Meanwhile, I don't know if RTB has helped my cluster headaches as they are characteristically a seasonal phenomenon, they usually start on November 1st or in early April, only time will tell. I have completed my sessions 5 days ago and the morning erections put a big smile on my face. What a way to start the day! The lust for life has returned! I have also been diagnosed with heart arrhythmia for 8 years and I have been taking increasing doses of medication to try to alleviate the condition. I am scheduled to see a cardiologist in a few days. Maybe RTB has had some effect on this electrical problem….

I was on probation for substance abuse. After over 36 years of self-medication and inebriation I am hopeful that returning to a balanced state through RTB can help me avoid drugs and the negative consequences associated with them. My attitude is very positive and I have been drug free for quite some time. When I had my evaluation done at Neuro Fitness Center by Mr. David McCullar I realized how far and wide my imbalance was. After only 2 days of sessions Dave was
able to graphically show me that I was rapidly getting rebalanced. I guess I was lucky to be able to visualize peaceful conditions so well. I may need some RTB "Tune Ups" in the future, but hey, All
equipment needs maintenance.

 R.G , Famington Hills MI

When I first heard about brain-training, I was intrigued and yet maintained a healthy level of skepticism.  Upon learning more about the Neuro-Fitness Center's specific brain-training technology as well as the basic idea of using sounds to "tune" the brain, I became willing to try the Neuro-Fitness center's brain-training in hopes of alleviating some of my anxiety related problems.

I was suffering from moderate to high anxiety and had trouble sleeping nearly every night.  I also experienced a lot of physical pain - with symptoms similar to those described  by patients with chronic fatigue syndrome and lupus.  I was also extremely emotional and had bouts of crying at the thought of past traumas.

Initially, I remained skeptical about the efficacy of the process, but came in with an open mind.  David helped greatly in putting me at ease with the process.  He was able to explain the technology in a way that inspired confidence in me.

After the first session, I felt greatly unsettled. I felt a lot of repressed anger arising again and had vivid dreams.  Again, David was able to put my mind at ease by explaining that part of the healing process involved a release of past traumas..  He assured me that this reaction would ease quickly.  Indeed, after the third session, I was falling asleep more easily, sleeping soundly during the night, and consequently required less hours of rest in order to wake up feeling refreshed.

After about the tenth session, I felt significantly calmer and less irritable.  I found myself to be more expressive and able to be more diplomatic when dealing with people.  As the weeks have gone on, I've found myself able to deal with situations that would usually arouse great anxiety in me with surprising aplomb.  Most remarkably, I've experienced a noticeable reduction in some of my physical symptoms. Previously I experienced a pin-pricking sensation all over my body as soon as I lay down every night.  Now, I experience it only once or twice in a two week period and for a much shorter period of time than before.

I still have ups and downs in mood and anxiety, as is natural.  In fact, I feel as if I have a natural range of human emotion.  The difference I seem to have observed is that negative emotions and thoughts seem to pass more easily and infrequently make a reappearance once they have been dealt with.

I believe that Neuro-Fitness Center's brain training program has helped to fine tune my mind in order to allow me to then continue to pursue other techniques to improve myself.  I will be able to better attest to the true benefits of the protocols as the months go on and the lasting and cumulative effects of the protocols become clear.   I recognize the importance of cultivating good habits in order to continue to see benefits and look forward to reporting on these even greater benefits in the near future.

 Judith A Waugh, Ph.D.:
“After 5 sessions of RealTime Balancing, I noticed an increase in clarity and the ability to focus, which increased my ability to make decisions without any accompanying stress. My sleep improved and the morning after my last session I awoke feeling energized and stronger.”

Rebecca M:
“I have had over 100 sessions and look back at the unlayering of trauma - both physical and emotional. My breathing has improved (I have been on Oxygen for 4 years due to a very serious lung disease) and many other surprises came my way. Those include calmness, focus, more energy, a happier state of being, better math skills and, I'm quite sure, a higher IQ. Thinking and doing are easier and relationships seem smoother. Presently, my eyesight is improving. My gratefulness for this technology, and in particular, the people in Sedona who worked on me, is beyond words!”

Jack, Melton

My name is Jack B. Melton. On February 5, 2005 I suffered a major stroke effecting the right side of my body. I was told by doctor's I may never walk again, as I then resided in my wheelchair. Also I was told I would have no use of my right arm or hand.
Through much therapy, including massage, acupuncture, and physical therapy combined with a positive attitude I began to walk with a brace on my right leg assited by a cane. I also regained limited use of my right arm and hand.
After 23 sessions of Brain Conditioning with Art McCullar at Neuro Fitness Center in Michigan I have removed the brace on my right leg that I relied on to walk, and I walk a lot without my cane. I no longer suffer with the hyper-tonicity in my right foot that curled my toes under and made it that much more difficult to walk. My left hand, that began to hurt constantly from dependence of the cane, has fully recovered causing no pain at all. My overall strength is improved and my energy levels are higher. I find it much easier to get through everyday without the desire to rest half way through.

I offer my encouragement and support to anyone interested in RealTime Balancing ™and may be having any doubt in receiving treatments. My home telephone number is 772-468-9941 for anyone to contact me with questions.
Sincerely,

SK, mom:
"How do I begin to thank you for giving me back my life?"

"I have been depressed, in one form or another, for most of my adult life. Years of therapy and antidepressant use have helped at various times, but the underlying feelings of hopelessness and helplessness never really went away. I came to Brain State Technologies as a last resort. My marriage was crumbling and my children avoided telling me anything they thought would upset me. I felt that I lived my life walking on egg shells.

“After the first session, I was feeling more hopeful than I could ever remember feeling. Family and friends started commenting that I seemed different.... I smiled more. After the 7th session I was thinking clearly, focusing on my writing and interacting with my family in a new and healthy way. My husband and I are working at reestablishing the marriage we once had.

“Thank you for giving me a fresh start."

JB, marketing associate:
"Your staff is the greatest!  I have to admit...when I first came to your office I was embarrassed to open up to the person doing my assessment. But I have to say, everyone was just GREAT! No one ever judged me or made me feel inferior because I had these problems (ADD & obsessive compulsive). I felt so relaxed! And the results speak for themselves... I've been off ALL my medications for over 3 months!
THANK YOU!!!!”

PL and BF, artists:
“Both changed their creative expression capabilities to gain positions of confidence and strength in the art world.”

PW, consultant:
P.W. is a consultant who needed organization, sales capability, and clients. After brain training, his sales increased significantly as did his proficiency. Clients now benefit from his additional insights, and business has grown to the point where he has found it necessary to add staff. His golf game has also improved.

JW, business owner:
J.W. had a business that was struggling and facing extreme financial hardship. After brain training, he increased his confidence, his creativity, and his salesmanship to land the biggest deal of his career, with Donald Trump himself. J.W. and his wife have started couples training, and report that their marriage is stronger than ever.

Martz Agency:
is an advertising agency which wanted more creativity from its staff. Brain State Technologies trained key 5 staff members for 9 sessions. The result was a significant increase in closure rate based on new and highly creative solutions. Additionally, the staff worked together more efficiently and harmoniously.

17 year old boy, was struggling at school:
“Neurobalance (Brain State clinic in South Africa) has really helped me in many different ways. The main thing that Neurobalance helped me with was sleeping. I slept very well and therefore I woke up easier and was more awake during the day. It also helped me to concentrate in class. I now seldom find myself daydreaming. I now also find it easier to sit down and focus on one particular task, and I feel more confident in myself.”

51 year old businessman, wanting improved mental capacity:
“I entered into the Neurobalance training program more out of a sense of curiosity than with the treatment of a specific medical condition in mind (well that’s what I thought anyway). Having read some of the documentation explaining the treatment, I did however feel that at the age of 51 it could be beneficial to focus on any aspect that might contribute to an overall sense of wellbeing, improve my mental capacity, etc.”
